Description/content | Master's programme in Anthropology and Development Studies The Anthropology and Development Studies (ADS) Master in Nijmegen has a unique interdisciplinary approach, which combines fine-grained analysis of local issues with an assessment of possible avenues for change. This programme allows you to conduct your own research project in one of three thematic domains – diversity, nature or civil society – and teaches you how to communicate your findings to various audiences. Why study Anthropology and Development Studies at Radboud University? • This Master's programme offers a unique combination anthropology and development studies. • You specialise in one of three 'hot' domains that encompass urgent social issues and are subject to intense academic debate. • The relation between the research and ‘the field’ is a key element of this programme. This is expressed by a strong focus on developing a critical reflective attitude towards social issues and debates. And by making the findings available and understandable for relevant interested parties. • You develop a unique skills set that prepares you for a wide array of jobs: from policy officer in the public sector or at (international) aid organisations to consultants for local businesses. • Teaching takes place in a stimulating, collegial setting with small groups. In addition, you’ll get plenty of one-on-one time with your thesis supervisors. • You can choose to go abroad for the field research connected to your Master's thesis. • The Department of Anthropology and Development Studies has a wide network of international contacts that extend from China to Bolivia and from South Africa to Indonesia and the Pacific. This means you’ll have plenty of opportunities to arrange a research position that meets your interests. • Radboud University offers a unique one-year Advanced Master in International Development (AMID) that you could apply for after completing your Master's. https://www.ru.nl/english/education/masters/anthropology-and-development-studies/why-study-this-programme/ Curriculum and courses https://www.ru.nl/english/education/masters/anthropology-and-development-studies/curriculum-and-courses/ |
