Accommodation

The next vital step after securing admission from the university in the EU is to look for a place to stay. You have several choices available for accommodation – university student apartments/dorms/family flats, private company apartments or private housing and shared flats offered by landlords. Your priority should be the university accommodation as it is available at affordable rates and as per your individual/family needs. You can even stay connected with your university classmates. You should also consider private accommodation options preferably if you are unable to find any offered by the university.

Find Accommodation

When you look for accommodation, you have to consider certain criteria. The accommodation should be in walking distance or should have easy transport connectivity to the university. It should also have nearby access to supermarkets, shops, banks, restaurants, laundry and other amenities that you may need as a student. You also need to make sure that the area in which you have taken accommodation is safe.

Private accommodation is a good choice if it falls under your budget or you need something spacious and out of the university vicinity. The application process for private accommodation is online. A useful tip here – do not pay any money in advance for private accommodation before you get the keys!

Find Student Residence Hall

Living in student resident halls is a unique experience. Many EU universities offer student resident halls which are buildings with well-equipped rooms or apartments. The rooms have beds, cupboards, kitchenette, study desk, furnishings, wi-fi and other facilities. They also have communal areas with a kitchen/canteen, library, garden, laundry room, swimming pool, sitting lounge or entertainment room for international students to socialize with peers.

However, the accommodation here is offered mostly on first come first serve basis. Hence, it is important to apply quickly after your university admission is confirmed. You can reach out to your program manager to gather information on student resident halls.
