Qualification Required

The qualifications for international studies differ across EU universities and each study program, be it bachelors, masters, PhD or any other studies. It is advisable to check the university’s official webiste before starting the application process and prepare accordingly to avoid a last-minute rush. Generally, your academic grades, aptitiude test scores, language proficiency are the basic qualifications/selection criteria. On top your will need financing or scholarships to pursue your abroad education.

The EU university that you are planning to study in would require you to appear for aptitude tests – IELTS, TOEIC  or TOEFL for language skills and GRE, GMAT, SAT or PAT for academic and intellectual skills. These tests follow a fixed format and pattern. You can easily appear for these tests at the centres located across your home country.

The local language of the country where you plan to study is crucial to your stay there. It can help you communicate easily with people and navigate your way around without depending on translation tools or residents. Learning the local language can also help you fetch part-time or full-time jobs. You need to enrol in online courses or language institutes to learn the foreign language. Each EU country has different types of language tests. For example, Zertifikat Deutsch and TestDaF for German; DELF and TCF for French; and so on.

Studying abroad is an expensive affair unless you have bagged a scholarship or sponsorship. You need money to pay for the tuition fee, accommodation and living expenses. You can finance your studies and stay through parental income, personal savings, education loans or a combination of all these sources.

Several EU universities, governments, private companies and many other institutions provide financial support to international students through scholarships, grants and bursaries. However, the eligibility criteria may differ based on the study program, your educational/work history or special circumstances. The scholarship could be used towards the tuition fee, accommodation or any other purpose stated by the sponsor.
